Veterinary Exam

A veterinary exam is like the yearly physical exams we have with our human doctors. We want to examine and assess your pet’s overall health to help guide the type of care we provide. We recommend a yearly visit to stay up-to-date with any health-related changes but need to see your pet more often based on their age or any underlying health issues.

What is a veterinary exam?

Our veterinary exam is an opportunity to check in with both you and your pet to determine their overall health. This typically includes a physical exam and another diagnostic testing, like bloodwork, ultrasounds and X-rays. These visits are also a great time to do other routine procedures like:

  • Vaccinations
  • Dental exam
  • Parasite control
  • Nutrition counselling
  • Weight management

What should I expect?

Your pet’s physical will take up a large portion of the appointment. We want to be as thorough as possible to detect any early signs of health issues that could cause complications for your furry friend in the future. Things we’ll check include:

  • Alertness
  • Hearing
  • Metrics like body weight
  • Appearances like coat and skin
  • Vision

Do I need to prepare my pet for a veterinary exam?

Come prepared to provide info on your pet’s daily routines, feeding schedules and reactions to certain medications/allergies. This information will help us determine the type of treatment and care they will receive. Also, please don’t hesitate to share any observations or subtle changes you’ve noticed in your pet, which could be an indication of health issues.
